#7 The Longest Yard

The movie at the number 7 spot on the list of my favorite movies is, The Longest Yard. The reason this movie has the number 7 spot on my list is because of the great story line and because it has football, a sport that I love. I wouldn’t consider the movie to be a comedy nor just a sports movie. I’d say it’s a mixture of three categories: a drama, comedy, and sports movie. Adam Sandler is a great actor and close to all the movies he is starring in are great films, like The Longest Yard. I am confident to say that this is my favorite football, or movie that contains football.

The Longest Yard is about a washed quarterback who ends up in jail. And while he is there, he is offered a deal, which is to put together a football team in exchange of a reduced sentence. He accepts the offer and forms a football team full of inmates. This team full of inmates are challenged with the task to play against a team full of prison guards. The team full of prisoners must play against the guards that are looking to stir things up and beat up on the prisoners. They are also being refereed by corrupt and biased officials that are making the game go in the guards’ favor.

My favorite scene of The Longest Yard is when the inmates are having a film session. Before the film session got started, a player projected two videos from the projector. The first video was of Paul and a woman in a room. They were caught by a security camera playing around with each other in a flirtatious way. Paul was without pants, and he was in hand cuffs, while the woman was taking photos of him. After the were done with the photos, she leaned over on the couch, and it fell over. There was someone who made a remark on the video, and immediately after, they pulled of a video of him. He was also caught by a security camera with someone. But this time the inmate was caught with another inmate who was a man. The two men greeted each other, then went off into a room, you can see them through the shadow in the blinds hugging and then going down to the ground. The guy got up and said, “nothing happened, I was showing him a little wrestling move.” This scene makes me die of laughter every time I rewatch the movie.
